Zoe has lost a tooth!

It was wobbly but not quite ready to fall out, and she was riding piggy-back on Gabby when Gabby stumbled and Zoe fell off. She broke her fall with her face, and came crying to me with a bloody tooth in her hand. The poor child was NOT amused. (It stopped bleeding almost immediately and the pain was very brief, but still traumatic!)

I tried to get her to smile for the picture, but she told me gravely, "I'm not happy. I don't want to smile." She also didn't want to touch the tooth (although the next day she asked to hold it), so Gabby held it and grinned like a maniac and Zoe grimaced so we could see the hole in her gum.

The picture, explained: Zoe was a little weirded out by her tooth falling out of her mouth, so she was leery of touching it. Instead, she asked that Gabby display it, while she grinned to show the new gap.

So proud!

Gabby is 6 years old. A few weeks ago, she was running around the sanctuary of our church while the choir, Joni and I practiced next Sunday's music. (Joni plays piano, I play flute.) Somehow she ended up reciting John 3:16 for the choir, and Pastor Ernest asked if she'd like to do that some Sunday.
So today she did just that. Stood up straight and tall in front of the entire church, eyes forward, shoulders back, and recited the entire thing without hesitation.
Not only am I proud of her memorization, but I'm kind of wondering...where on earth did she get the ability to stand in front of a crowd without stage fright? She sure didn't get that from me...I'm half-hidden behind the ficus plant on the stage when I play the flute, and I like it just fine.
I don't care - I'm just proud of my girl. :o)
