Two Zoe funnies

Zoe went to town with Erich yesterday. On the way, she asked him if he could tilt his mirror down so she could see in it. He explained that he couldn't, because he had to see if there were cars behind him.
She took a fast look behind her and said, "There's no cars, Daddy. Can you tilt the mirror down now?"

Erich bought me a lovely coat for my birthday, black, with silver buttons and a military-type cut. I was walking through the kitchen and discovered it on the FLOOR, of all places. "WHAT is this doing on the FLOOR???!!!" I wanted to know. Zoe glanced up from where she was eating her lunch and said completely seriously, "It's okay, Mama, it won't hurt the floor."

Sophie the Obedient

The other day I asked Sophie if she could get me a diaper for Deet. She obligingly ran into the kitchen and started looking for them, but couldn't find them. "They're next to the oven, Sophie, look where I'm pointing." She looked and looked but still no dice, so I tried again. "They're behind you, honey, turn around."
So she very obediently turned around on the spot three times and then looked at me as if to say, "What exactly did that accomplish?"

Sophie the Observant

We were at church the other day, all lined up in the pew. Zoe on my left, Sophie on my lap, Gabby on my right, Daddy next to her with Deet. Most of y'all know that Erich shaves his head - he finds it very convenient for work (says it intimidates wrong-doers ;o).
We're sitting there waiting for service to begin when Sophie points at Zoe and says, "Hair! Pwetty!" I agreed that Zoe had pretty hair, and she pointed at me. "Hair!" Thank you, yes, Mama has hair too. Pointing at Gabby, "Hair!" Yep, Gabby has hair. Then pointing at Daddy - brief pause and then, "DADDY!"
